Department Goals

Students will:

  • Distinguish the connections between different peoples and cultures throughout the times.
  • Recognize the importance of psychology in human development.
  • Show an appreciation of the democratic process and be able to explain the functions of democracy in the United States and be able to compare and contract our system with other governmental systems in the world.
  • Identify and apply the skills in media technology, critical thinking, and effective writing to be used in research and class work.
  • Analyze the importance of geography in history and in their lives.
  • Show an appreciation for historical Catholic tradition in the development of Western Civilization and in the religious traditions of the United States.
  • Compare/contrast the roles of economic systems in world society, particularly in the United States.
  • Identify the five themes of geography and how they apply to both historical events and day-to-day living.
