Mission Efforts

At Trinity Catholic High School, we characterize ourselves as a developing faith community. Essential to growth in committed faith is the need to foster ways of putting our faith into action, to implement ways of living as committed disciples. That is the purpose of Trinity's Mission Team Activities.

In addition to the formal Service Program, Fr. Beighlie moderates an active Mission Team as an adjunct to the Campus Ministry Program. The Mission Team decides on several areas of involvement and plans and implements larger scale campaigns to benefit the poor, the homeless, and the disadvantaged in our midst.

Members of this year's Mission Team include:

  • Skylar Allen (class of 2009)
  • Emily Buck (class of 2009)
  • Emily Frenz (class of 2009)
  • Megan Funke (class of 2009)
  • Sarah Madden (class of 2010)
  • Aaron Johnson (class of 2010)
  • Lauren Meredith (class of 2010)
  • Megan Trentman (class of 2009)
  • Kelsey Weiler (class of 2009)

For the 2007-2008 school year, Mission activities include:

  • October 8 – October 19
St. Matthew’s Safe Streets Halloween Campaign (St. Matthew's is the poorest per capita parish in the diocese of St. Louis and its youth ministry program aims at giving young people an alternative to life on the streets. The annual Halloween party is a major effort to serve the youth of the area and attract them to St. Matthew's alternative.)
Campaign Strategy: Set goal of 300 bags of candy or $500 or equivalent combination – student contribution
Solicit contributions from faculty to buy “party bags” – any additional staff contribution to be added to student total
If school reaches its goal we will end the day on Halloween with an all school assembly to show a Halloween movie.
  • November 2 – November 16
Helping Hands Food Pantry Campaign (The Helping Hands Food Pantry serves the needs of the poor in the immediate neighborhood of Trinity. What they need from us is funds to buy turkeys for the families they serve.)
Campaign Strategy: "Decorate for Thanksgiving.” Sell 'Turkey Posters' in homerooms for $1.00. The 'turkeys' are to be colored, decorated, and inscribed with the name of a person for whom the student is thankful. The homerooms will make a collage of these 'turkeys' to be displayed during our Thanksgiving Liturgy.
  • November 19 – December 7
St. Vincent’s/Guardian Angel-Hosea House/Kingdom House Christmas for the Poor and Homeless.
Issue Extra Credit vouchers for toys or items of clothing. The agencies will supply us with a list of needed items for their annual Christmas program to benefit the poor and homeless.
  • January 14 - January 25
Diocese campaign to benefit St. Patrick's Center. Campaign Strategy: Raffle $300 worth of gas for $3.00 a chance. All proceeds to be forwarded to the school office to be distributed to St. Patrick's.
  • March 28
Family Trivia Night to benefit Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital. All proceeds to benefit Cardinal Glennon's new neo-natal intensive care unit.
  • May 23
Back-to-School Items for Poor and Homeless (Guardian Angel – Hosea House) Campaign Strategy: Evening Ice Cream Social and Movie – price of admission would be new, packaged school items (pens, paper, notebooks, pencils, markers, etc. A list of most needed items will be supplied by the agencies.)
