Sacraments

The sacraments, especially the Eucharist, are the source of life for the Christian community. At Trinity Catholic High School, we strive to provide a lively and engaging sacramental life for the whole community, students and staff. This includes the regular celebration of the Eucharist, celebration of Reconciliation, and the opportunity for the Sacrament of the Sick.

Eucharistic Celebrations

Our Chaplain, Fr. Beighlie, celebrates Mass at 7:30 every morning in the campus chapel. He is joined by a small group of regulars – members of the staff and visitors from the surrounding community. Several students also regularly attend as their schedule allows.

Special groups also gather at this celebration from time to time – the Trinity Dance Line regularly comes to this morning Mass before a competition and the Track Team celebrates as a team before the start of their season. In addition, days are set aside during Advent and Lent when the Mass of day is offered for each individual class and for the staff. On those days, all members of the class with their advisors or all members of the staff are specifically invited to come and share in the Eucharist.

On November 2, the Feast of All Souls, Fr. Beighlie offers Mass for all the deceased of the Trinity Family. Everyone is invited to submit names of deceased family members and friends to be remembered at this celebration and to gather together at this time to pray for our loved ones. The list of names is then posted on the Trinity Prayer board for the remainder of the year.

Besides these daily Eucharistic celebrations, All-School Liturgies are held about once a month. These celebrations are planned by the Campus Ministry team. For the 2007-2008 school year, these celebrations include:

  • Friday, August 24
    Opening of School Liturgy
  • Thursday, September 27
St. Vincent de Paul Service/Mission Workshop
    Homecoming Liturgy (Grandparents invited)
  • Tuesday, November 20

  • Friday, December 21
Advent/Christmas Liturgy (acknowledgment of giving to St. Vincent’s/Guardian Angel-Hosea House Christmas program for the poor)
  • Friday, January 25
The Conversion of St. Paul Liturgy and A.C.A. presentation
  • Sunday, January 27
Trinity Parent Organization Breakfast and Sunday Liturgy to begin Catholic Schools Week
  • Wednesday, February 6

  • Friday, April 4

  • Thursday, May 15
    Baccalaureate Mass

Reconciliation and Penance Services

As is the case with the Sacrament of the Sick, Fr. Beighlie is available at any time for the celebration of Reconciliation. A number of students take advantage of this opportunity throughout the year.

During the seasons of Advent and Lent, an All-School celebration of Reconciliation is held. To prepare for these special celebrations, prayer services, planned by the Campus Ministry Team, are held in all religion classes. For the celebration of Reconciliation itself, Fr. Beighlie is joined by priests from the neighboring parishes in North County.

The celebration of Reconciliation at Trinity Catholic High School is a celebration of good young people who care about being good and decent. The celebration is successful because of the participation of priests from the surrounding area who regularly help out. We want to thank

  • Fr. Patrick Christopher and Fr. Robert Sydlowski (St. Martin de Porres)
  • Fr. Jeffrey Maassen (St. Angela Merici)
  • Fr. Jack Dempsey (St. Ferdinand)
  • Fr. James Mitulski (St. Norbert)
  • Fr. Carl Scheble (St. Rose Philippine Duchesne)

  • Fr. Thomas Haley (Our Lady of the Rosary)
  • Fr. Michael Henning (Holy Name of Jesus)

Campus Ministry Team

The prayer life of a community needs to reflect the life, concerns, and values of that community. Trinity Catholic High School is proud of its growing Campus Ministry Team who take on the responsibility of planning all liturgies and prayer services so that these celebrations will reflect the life and values of the Trinity community.

The team, when appropriate (e.g. for the start of the school year or homecoming), picks a theme for the celebration. They select music, choose readings, prepare petitions, and plan and implement special rites and symbols to enhance the experience of the community. They also invite their fellow students to become involved by reading, serving, or participating in special rites. They constantly consider who we are and what we do so that our celebrations are truly an expression of the identity of the growing faith community of Trinity Catholic High school. For the 2007-2008 school year, the Campus Ministry team consists of:

  • Ben Batzer (class of 2010)
  • Veronica Breen (class of 2008)

  • Lizzie Radazo (class of 2010)
